Barbara C. Elledge, 79, formerly of South Roxana, passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Born Aug. 20, 1938 in LeRoy, IL, she was a daughter of Clyde and Jessie May Bell (Brittin) Furnish.
She married Mearlen Wayne Elledge Jan. 1, 1989 in Las Vegas. Together they co-owned Gold Star Transport Company in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 2017.
Barbara enjoyed crocheting, making afghans in particular.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (David) Hackney of Deer Creek, IL and Debbie (Dale) Lilienthal of Mackinaw, IL; two sons, Rick (Annette) Mardis of Oldsmar, FL and Joe (Michelle) Mardis of Mackinaw; a stepdaughter, Connie (Bill) Rexing of Brighton; 9 grandchildren, Alex (Jennifer Hall) Hackney, Derek (Beth) Hackney, Tara (Matt) Wood, Nick Mardis, Danielle Flaugher, Darren Lilienthal, Kara Mardis, Jamie (Marlene) Mardis; two step grandchildren, Jacob Rexing and Kelsey (Brent) Weaver; 19 great grandchildren; special aunts and uncle Laverne (Cathy) Elledge and Alberta Yost, all of East Alton; and her beloved cat Bootsie.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Chuck) Neil.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 16 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Deer Creek Fire Protection District, PO Box 352, Deer Creek, IL 61733, in honor of the special care their rescue squad and EMT’s provided for Barbara.
