Barbara Ann (Jackson) Buckshot, 79, died at 7:52 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Bethalto after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born August 22, 1945 in Alton, she was the daughter of Orville and Bernice (Burleson) Jackson. She was crowned Miss Alton Dragway in the 1960’s. Following graduation from Alton High School, she became a hairdresser working for La Perle Beaty Salon in Alton and was later a store manager for Sally Beauty Company in Dallas, TX. Between that time, she and her husband, Ron, ran Curtis Marketing Co. in Mt. Vernon, IL. Barbara earned her Real Estate License in 2000 and worked for Wooff Realtors in Alton. She was an excellent Scrabble, Dominoes and Pinochle player. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. (The family knew not to call during Jeopardy!) She married Ron Buckshot in November 1963. Together they enjoyed playing golf and traveling in Ron’s plane with family and friends. Surviving are three daughters, Stacey Marsh of Prosper, TX, Veronica Jones of Plano, TX, and Laurie Seiler (Barry) of Alton, her grandchildren, Logan Marsh of Prosper, TX and Sydney Shaffer (Carson) currently of Germany, Ashley Paulson (David) of Forney, TX, Bria Jones of Dallas, TX, and great grandchildren, Joshua and Addy Paulson of Forney, TX, and she was loved by and affectionately called “Grandma Barb” by all the Seiler and Maberry families. Also surviving are her sisters, Carol Cannavan, Janet Steinbrueck, a special sister and caregiver, Gail Woolverton, and Claire Aaron (Mike) as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy Jones, three brothers, Steven, Jeffrey and Nate Jackson, brother-in-law, Bill Steinbrueck, and brother-in-law, Al Woolverton. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of memorial service at 5 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice of Belleville or the Wounded Warrior Project.
