Barbara Allen

Barbara  A. Allen, 78, passed away at 6:33 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her home with her family by her side, under the care of Heartland Hospice.  She was born January 7, 1940, in Alton, the daughter of George W. and Alice M. (Voss) Pickerel. Barb married William Jerry Allen Sr. on April 23, 1958 in Wood River. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009.Barb worked as an Administrative Assistant at Olin Corporation for 32 years before retiring in 1999. She was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Staunton. Barb spent her retirement years enjoying Tuesday night “Group Therapy” in Prairietown as a founding member.  She also enjoyed traveling with her soulmate across “God’s Country”.  She was a member of multiple card groups, the Red Hat Club and Quilt Club of Bunker Hill. Most of all, Barb loved spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by 3 children, Letha (Patrick) Costello of Metamora, IL, William Jerry Allen Jr. (Roberta) of Edwardsville, Terry “Barney” (Cathy) Allen of Dorsey; 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Vanessa) Allen, Aaron Allen, Kyle (Laura) Costello, Timothy, Jonathan, Olivia, Lily, Christian Costello, Leah (Jordan) Watson, Samuel Allen; 3 great grandchildren, Carissa, Zander and Elliot.She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Staunton with Fr.
