Audra Freer

Audra “Jean” Freer, 89, died at 3:02 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born June 30, 1922 in Granite City, IL, she was the daughter of Calvin and Minnie (Glenn) O’Shea.  She was a member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton and retired from the bookstore at Lewis & Clark Community College.  On January 4, 1941 in Steelville, MO, she married Arnold Freer Jr.  He preceded her in death on December 28, 2001.  Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margaret Freer of Godfrey, one grandson, Tim Freer and his wife Carrie of Alton, three great grandchildren, Taylor and Lilly Freer of Alton, and Carson Freer of Foristell, MO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandson, David Freer.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011.  Patrick Thatcher will officiate.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton.
