Arnella Oliver, 77, of Wood River, IL, passed away at 7:33 p.m. Sat. Apr. 9, 2016 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL.
She was born May 6, 1938 at home in the area of the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky to the late Orbie & Nellie (Blankenship) Aldridge
On May 28, 1956, she and Ernest “Ernie” A. Oliver were married in Corinth, MS. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2001.
Arnella was a homemaker and had attended First General Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights. She loved to play bingo and do word search puzzles. She enjoyed vacationing with family and riding on the pontoon boat. Her life centered around her family. She was a caregiver not only to her own children, but her 3 granddaughters and several nieces and nephews
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte & Brian Sherer of Roxana, IL, 3 granddaughters, Felisha (Ernie) Fries, Marissa Sherer and Samantha Sherer, a brother, Tom (Liz) Aldridge of Kuttawa, KY, 2 sisters, Dorothy Petty of Hickory Valley, TN and Donna (Tommy) Vinson of Princeton, KY, a special niece, Shelly Hefner and great-niece and great-nephew, Josie & Robby Hefner.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, Wayne Oliver and a sister, Ann Powell.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tues. Apr. 12, 2016 at Paynic Home for Funerals where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wed. Apr. 13, 2016 with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
