Arlene Dorothy Johnson, 91, of Bethalto, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
She was born on October 31, 1929 in Prairietown, IL, the daughter of Hilbert and Martha (Gueselle) Dustmann. She married William Johnson on March 31, 1951 in Prairietown. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1983.
Arlene was actively involved and a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton. She was a retired nurse and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and volunteering with St. Anthony’s Hospital and the Salvation Army. Arlene took great pride in her ministry work with the Illinois Youth Center in Grafton, IL.
Survivors include her children, David Johnson (Gary Poulsen), Steven (Jeanette) Johnson, and Jeffrey (Maureen) Ryan; a brother, Robert Dustman; five grandchildren, Jessica (Zach) Griffin, Craig Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Matthew Johnson (Dominic Marlow), and Eileen Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Collin Griffin, Caleb Griffin, and Charlotte Griffin along with a niece, Jami Hede and a nephew, Greg Dustman.
In addition to her husband, her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held 10 AM until time of service at 12 PM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton. Pastor Randy Fischer will officiate.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is entrusted with professional services.
