Arlena P. Apple, 100, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of East Alton, IL, died at 12:15 a.m. Wed. Nov. 5, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospice Home in Kansas City, MO.
She was born Aug. 18, 1914 in Greene Co., IL to the late Sigel & Rosa (Rice) Anderson.
She and Paul Holder were married in 1933 and he preceded her in death in March, 1979. She then married Finley J. “Bud” Apple on Sept. 22, 1981 in East Alton and he preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2001.
Arlena had worked at Olin Corp. and Phoebe Goldberg’s dress shop. She had also been a member of the First Baptist Church of East Alton.
Survivors include: a son, Paul T. Holder of Overland Park, KS, a step-daughter, Judith (Jimmy) Stone of Rosewood Heights, IL, 2 grandchildren, Tiffani Cunningham & Andrew Holder and 2 great-grandchildren, Logan & Raegan Cunningham.
Besides both husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son, Carl Holder, 3 sisters, Cecil Hamel, Nellie Lozier & Reba Noland and 3 brothers, Willard, Emert & Harry Anderson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at Noon, Fri. Nov. 7, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funerals with Pastor Homer Hanshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
