Anthony Sievers

Anthony (Tony) Lee Sievers died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 4:15 p.m. from injuries sustained from an accident at work.

Tony was born on April 7, 1957. He was the third child of Jerome and Betty Sievers of Batchtown, IL.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Batchtown, IL. Growing up with siblings, Brenda Sievers, Jerry (Bonnie) Sievers, and Bruce (Connie) Sievers and lots and lots of cousins.

Tony played baseball, softball, track, and basketball during his youth and continued playing softball for years after. Once he quit playing, he umped and refereed. He was an original member of the Calhoun Entertainment Company and served his community as a volunteer fireman and Trustee.

In 1977, he married Janice (Ohlendorf) Sievers and welcomed and loved three children from that union. Brian (Meghan) Sievers of O’fallon, MO, Jason (Shelly) Sievers of St. Jacob, IL, and Pamela (Jarett) Blackwell of Batchtown, IL.

January 8, 2000, Tony married his best friend and love of his life, Jana (Fiedler) Sievers who brought to their marriage her three girls, Jennifer Suhling of Batchtown, IL, Erica (WD) Suhling Hayman of Baton Rouge, LA, and Jessica Suhling of Batchtown, IL.

During Tony’s and Jana’s 25 years together, they welcomed 7 grandchildren, Jace (Sammie) Blackwell, Kenzie and Kaden Sievers, Haley (Emmanuel) Welch, Carlie Suhling, Stephanie Recklein, and June Hayman; 6 Great Grandchildren, Katie and JoAnna, Taylor James Jr., Maricela, Tae, and Kei’Maya.

Tony and his family owned and operated Calhoun Quarry, this being Tony’s 50th year.

Tony was preceded in death by a great grandson, Taylor James Jr., his in-laws PG and AJ Fiedler, his aunt Pauline Sievers, Rodney Wallendorf, and his two friends, Henry Droege and John Schulte.

In you knew Tony, you know he never saw a stranger. He always had a smile on his face (unless he was dealing with MSHA). His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his family and the sounds of kids enjoying Christmas Lights display. He had a deep and personal relationship with each and every one of his family. Raising Mari and Tae was his ultimate pride and joy.

Tony was a unique and wonderful gentleman. He valued his community, country and especially his family. He ALWAYS went above and beyond the normal.

Visitation will be Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, IL.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March, 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg.
