Anna Elizabeth Turner

Anna Elizabeth Turner, 87, died suddenly at 8:34 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at her residence.She was born on Jan. 26, 1925 in Greene County, Il. one of eleven children born to the late Hubert & Agnes (Wilhelmy) Shaw.Anna began working at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville as a young woman, and taught school in rural Jersey County for a few years. Later in life, she became an in home day care provider and she & her husband, also served as foster parents for several children.She married Alfred Eugene "Bud" Turner on August 5, 1950 in Jerseyville, and together they raised their three children and shared nearly 40 years together before his death on March 27, 1990.Surviving are a son & daughter in law, Rev. Terry & Debbie Turner of Virden; two daughters, Elaine Davis of Carrollton and Tammy Purcell of Jerseyville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Terry & Ann Turner II of Springfield, Shelly & Shaun Williamson of Webster Groves, Mo., and Annie Whitehead of Jerseyville; two great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Natalie; a sister, Ada Short of Jerseyville and two brothers, John Shaw of Dorchester and Calvin Shaw of Shipman.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son in law, Patrick C. "Rick" Davis on June 15, 2012; and six brothers, Paul Edward, Claude, James, George William, Clyde, Hubert Shaw, and and infant brother, Charles Herman Shaw.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Friday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville.
