Our dear sweet mother Ann Hodge, 77, passed away at 8 pm Thursday April 28, 2011, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton with her family by her side.

She was born on May 16, 1933 in Godfrey, IL, the daughter of Frank & Lula (McCray) Duty. She Married James Hodge on July 17, 1952, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1980.

Ann spent her entire life taking care of family and raising her 5 children. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and flowers. She was also a wonderful cook, and enjoyed hosting the family celebrations. She loved spending time with her family and her pets. Her face lit up when any one or all seventeen grandchildren and great-grandchildren ran through the door.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: David and Anita Hodge of Alton, Linda and Greg Hill of Godfrey, Barb and Greg Belcher of Godfrey, and Marilyn Hodge of Alton; eight grandchildren: James Hodge, Gabriel Rowaihy, Marsha Rowaihy, Robby Hill, Gregory and Christina Belcher, Andrea and Shane Pegram, Sean Hill, and Jennifer Hill; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers Francis Duty of Godfrey and Fred and Sandy Duty of Alton; three sisters; Ida Homer of Jerseyville, Ellen and Don Sessions of Alton, and Louise Homer of Alton; two sister-in-laws, Margie Sweet and Marry Ketterer; two very special nieces Dawn Duff and Karen Duty, both of Godfrey; and one very dear friend Amy Perkins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Vicky Hill, a sister Florence Key, and her special friend Bill Lewis.

In accordance with her wishes cremation rites were performed, with no services.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
