Andrzej “Andy” Jan Madej, age 63, was born July 27, 1961, in Mielec, Poland, died on Friday, May 2, 2025, in St Louis, MO.
At the age of 10, Andy and his family immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1971.
Andy graduated from Althoff Catholic High School in 1980; in 1985 Andy received his bachelor’s in chemistry from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. Andy continued his education at Saint Louis College of Pharmacy in 1989. Andy was a pharmacist for 30 years before retiring.
Andy loved to laugh and share his humor with family and friends. He always brought a smile to everyone he met.
Andy enjoyed watching sports, swimming, traveling, gardening, and playing golf with friends. He had a passion for volunteering, especially with the Polish American Congress.
Andy was a master of the grill and enjoyed sharing his culinary adventures with family and friends. He enjoyed international travel with his wife Iwona. As a Polish native, Andy always enjoyed visiting his relatives in Poland.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Janina, nee Napieracz and Stanislaw Madej.
Andy is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Iwona Madej, and two children Gabriela and Alexander Madej of St Louis, MO. Andy is survived by his brother, Derrick (Dorothy) Madej, sister-in-law Beata Wojcik, brother- in-law Arek (Magda) Gorka, and mother and father in-law Maria and Alex Gorka. Uncle Andy will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews: Sarah (Evan) Scales, Kathryn Madej, John Madej, Viktoria Wojcik, Sebastian Wojcik, Max Skarzynsky, and Logan Skarzynsky. And, of course his dog, Rocko.
Andy Madej touched so many lives in an all-too-short life. He will be missed dearly by all who had the great fortune to know him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Polish Roman Catholic Church, 3239 S. 9th St., St. Louis, MO 63118, with Rev. Stan Poszwa officiating. Interment will be in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
