Alvina Rose Bridges, 84, passed away at 2:13 pm Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Blu Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
She was born on March 5, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Margiotti) Estrada.
She married Orville Bridges on December 23, 1961. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1969.
Alvina was a homemaker most of her life and worked as a nurses aid at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton. She loved to read, watch movies and enjoyed flowers.
She is survived by one daughter, Bernadette Bridges of Alton, one sister, Antoinette Kowalchik of California, and a good friend, Genevieve Forsythe of Virginia.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bridges.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Monday September 19, 2011 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday September 20, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
