Alison Gwynne Jones, 46, died at 1:21 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on February 25, 1964 in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Verda (Clauseen) Jones and the late J. Alan Jones.
Alison attended schools in Oregon, Idaho and Washington, graduating from Blaine, WA High School in 1982. In 1983 she moved to Seldovia, Alaska, where she lived for the next 13 years. While there she worked as a cook and deck hand on a commercial fishing boat for a number of years, including one year cleanup for the Exxon Valley oil spill. After leaving Alaska she worked in a restaurant in Flagstaff, AZ and Portland, OR before moving to the Bethalto area in 2000. For the last eight years, she worked at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. She was a great cook and she loved to entertain. Her friends will miss her Sunday afternoon BBQs.
In addition to her mother of Bethalto, she is survived by two uncles and their wives, Neil and Esther Clauseen of Carbondale, IL and Tom and Dorothy Claussen of Wood River and numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Jessica Jones.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be from 4:00 pm to service time at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2011 with Pastor Chip Faulkner officiating.
Inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Public Library.
