Alice L. Scott, 86, passed away at 11:30 am Saturday November 26, 2011 at VIP Manor Nursing Home in Wood River with her family by her side while under the care of Heartland Hospice.

She was born on February 11, 1925 in Sullivan County, IN, the daughter of Carl E. & Thelma (Thompson) Jared.

She married John Mikoff and he preceded her in death. She married Willard C. Scott on November 30, 1974 in Alton and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1994.

She worked as a clerk at Wardein Pharmacy in North Alton and was a member of Carlin Rebekah Lodge #248. She served in many positions and held the office of Noble Grand when she retired in 1985.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Linda A. Welch of East Alton; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Carl R. & Judy Scott of Hanna City, IL; four step-grandchildren, Shawn Scott and his wife Dawn of Geneva, IL, Brian Scott of Hanna City, IL, April Grimm and her husband Jeff of Glen Carbon, IL, and Craig Welch of Brighton; three step-great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan and Hayley Grimm; one brother, Dennis Jared of Ohio; one sister Nellie Spurgeon of Florida; a sister in law Joyce Jared of Indiana; a special niece Connie Williams-Devlin and her husband, Mike; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Clara Hicks and Brenda Simpson.

In addition to her parents: she was also preceded in death by three, brothers, Donald Joe, Ronald, & James Jared; and her step son in law, Don Welch.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9 am until time of funeral services at 10 Tuesday November 29, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Pastor Dale Jackson officiating.

Graveside Services will follow at 1:30 pm at Gholson Cemetery in Broughton, IL.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
