Alfred “Al” Taylor, 66, died at 7:16 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton after a lengthy illness. Born April 9, 1946 in Jerseyville, he was the son of Lawrence Raymond and Lena Mae (Goodman) Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW Post 1308. He was a member of the Abundant Life Community Church. He was an avid reader and loved music and singing in the church choir and gospel groups. He retired as a millwright from the Olin Corporation.

After retirement he loved to tinker and repair things and was a fix it all man. On May 24, 1968 he married the former Carolyn S. Glisson in Corcoran, CA. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Taylor Mormino (Scott) of Wood River, and Angela Taylor Madison of Roxana, two grandchildren, Hannah Alise Mormino and Kristian Anthony Wayne Madison, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Savannah “Vannie”. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leonard Ray Taylor and Raymond Daniel Taylor and a sister, Leona Yvonne Hillis.

Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013. Reverend Roy Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be private. Online
