Alec Joseph Vahle, 21, died Monday evening, August 5, 2024 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Alton, Illinois on September 9, 2002, and was the youngest of three sons born to Roger Lee and Melissa (Kraut) Vahle.
Alec grew up alongside his two brothers in Kane, and attended St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School and graduated in 2021 from Jersey Community High School, both in Jerseyville. He furthered his education at Southwest Illinois College in Granite City, where he studied heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
He currently was at a job that he loved, working as a Wireless Communication Technician for Keystone Wireless Service in St. Charles, Missouri.
Alec was much loved by his family, and anyone that met him, instantly felt the same way. He had a genuine and laid back personality that instantly drew people to him, and he cherished the many friendships that he was blessed with. He possessed a truly caring heart, and genuinely was concerned for others well being, thus making him a true friend.
He loved working out and was fitness minded, as well as being an accomplished weightlifter. He enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons with his buddies, riding his motorcycle, and would attend any concert that he could. His true joy, however, was spending time with his family and his friends.
Surviving are his parents, Melissa and Thomas Yates of Grafton, and Lee Vahle and his companion, Tracie Bock of Jerseyville; his two brothers, Brennan Vahle and his companion, Shelby Holybee and Joshua Vahle, all of Carrollton; grandparents, Michael and Anita Kraut of Jerseyville and Rita Vahle of Kane; a nephew, Walker, and another nephew, Hunter who is due to arrive in a week; his step siblings, TJ Yates, and his companion Mallory of Nokomis, Morgan Yates, and her companion, Tony of Wood River, and Ayden Yates of Grafton; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roger L. Vahle.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Those attending are encouraged to dress casually.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
He will be laid to rest in the Kane Cemetery.
