Albert "Al" John Kaufman, Jr., 76, of Bethalto, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Jerseyville Manor.
He was born on May 5, 1948, in Alton, the son of Albert Sr. and Theresa Kaufman. Al married Carol Ann Hunt in Bethalto on September 16, 1971. She survives.
Al is a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Genco, Inc. before his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. Al is also a member of Bethalto Knights of Columbus, and a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, watching the Chicago Cubs, working at the KC Hall in Bethalto, and spending time with friends and family.
Along with his wife, Carol, he is survived by his children, Michelle Douthat of Madison Heights, VA, and Angela Kaufman of Bethalto; and two granddaughters, Amanda and Elizabeth Douthat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Kaufman.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, and 4th Degree Knight Challis Service will be at 6 pm.
Mass will be on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10 am, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, with Father Tom Liebler as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Military rites will be preformed by Alton VFW Post #1308.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
