Albert "Al" H. Parker, 82, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his home.
Born Dec. 6, 1927 in Otsego, Mich., he was a son of Gene Thomas and Elsie M. (St. Clair) Parker.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was in Berlin, Germany during the Berlin Airlift.
He retired in 1986 after 28 years as a microwave technician for Marathon Pipeline.
He married the former Velma Sue Ashcraft March 1, 1975 in Edwardsville. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Sherry Parker of Largo, Fla. and Darren and Elizabeth Parker of Peru, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Gary Neuman of Powder Springs, Ga.; and stepdaughter and her husband, Karen and Dennis Robinette of Bethalto; and a stepson and his wife, Kenny and Kimberly Grigg of Roxana; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a step grandson and a step great grandson; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Jean Parker of Centennial, Colo. and Ted and Janet Parker of Henderson, Nev.; a sister and her husband, Kay and Lewis Joyner of Swayze, Ind.; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Bill and Ann Ashcraft of Overland Park, Kan. and Lyman and Nancy Ashcraft of Benton, Mo.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Peggy and Dave Jenson of Lander, Wyo.; and many friends and other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Parker; and a baby son, Drew Parker.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rev. Richard Clouse will officiate services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 .
Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Liberty Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crosspoint Baptist Church in South Roxana, where he was a member
