Ada E. Koehne, 87, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 14, 1924, the daughter of Joseph Proctor and Roena Wiser Proctor, and was raised in Carlinville, IL. She married William P. Koehne on January 9, 1943 in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1989. A homemaker most of her life, she worked for several years in the nursery at Beverly Farm in order to put her son through college. She enjoyed having her home filled with her children and their friends. In her later years, her most precious moments were spent in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in whom she took great delight and pride. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ed Ballhurst of Godfrey, and Linda and Leon Bowen of Alton, one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Susan Koehne of Godfrey, four grandchildren, James Ballhurst of Godfrey, Kathleen Zirkelbach and her husband Brian of Godfrey, Robert Ballhurst and wife Melissa of Blue Springs, MO, Christopher Koehne and his fiancé, Dr. Jaclyn Rykal of Las Vegas, NV, three great great granddaughters, Kristen Ballhurst, Kaitlyn Zirkelbach, and Stevie Zirkelbach, and a special friend, Janice Garee of Alton. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Wayne and Earl Proctor, and three sisters, Mildred wills, Martha Triplett, and Irma Hawk. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012. Burial will be at Mayfield Memorial Cemetery in Carlinville, IL. Pastor Adrian Das will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
