Ada Durbin

Wood River | Monday, October 19 2015

Durbin, Ada (nee Galeaz), of Wood River, IL, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 19, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Carl Durbin, loving mother of Ronald (Roseann Carter) Durbin of Shalimar, FL, Gregory (Linda Claussen) Durbin of Champaign, IL, Gloria (Brent) Roth of St. Louis, Christopher (Katherine Krummel) Durbin of St. Rose, IL, and Anthony (Elena Avkhach), Durbin of Alton, IL, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Mary Rose Galeaz of Alton, IL, Joseph (Patricia) Galeaz of St. Jacob, IL, and the late Andy (Ellen) Galeaz of Campus, IL, and Sister Mary Dolorosa (Gloria Galeaz), dear aunt, cousin, and friend of so many very special people.

Ada spent 21 wonderful years at Delmar Gardens South Nursing Home in St. Louis. It very quickly became her home, and the staff, residents, volunteers and entertainers her extended family. She made it a point to meet a new person every day, and many became dear friends with whom she regularly kept in touch. Her contagious smile, easy laugh, and genuine interest in everyone she met filled her days with joy and purpose. Music was always an important part of Ada’s life, and she looked forward to the entertainment that introduced her to so many talented performers who knew that the “Front Row Lady” would be there to enjoy, participate, and applaud. So many people helped to make Ada’s life something she looked forward to every single day, and we thank each and every one of you.
