Abe Ramsey Jr., 85, died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born June 22, 1926 in Charleston, IL, he was the son of Abe and Nellie (Wright) Ramsey Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Laclede Steel. On August 23, 1952 he married the former MaDonna Redding in Addison, Alabama. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1998. Surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Viola Ramsey of Hartford, a nephew, Randy Ramsey and his wife Perha of Wood River, a niece, Martha Warren of South Roxana, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sisters, Mabel Leitch, Elizabeth Ramsey, and Pearl Satterfield. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate.
