Hazel Muntz

JERSEYVILLE-  Hazel Fern Muntz, 99, died at 4:15 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.She was born in White Hall on May 11, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Muriel (Pinkerton) Ashford.Hazel married Harry Lynn "Pinky" Muntz on April 18, 1937 in St. Charles, Mo., and together they raised their four children and shared 55 years together before his death on Oct 7, 1992.Surviving are a daughter & son in law, Elaine & Paul Jilek of Jerseyville; two sons & a daughter in law, Larry & Teresa Muntz of Jerseyville and Dean Muntz of Jerseyville; a son in law, William J. Watts of Brighton; nine grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Watts in 1999;  a daughter in law, Melody Muntz; and a step sister, Ilda Stowe.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, with Rev. Mark Myers officiating.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville.
