Betty Jane Grove, 89, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Betty was born with her twin brother, Bill, on August 27, 1924 in Alton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Lee (Culp) Griesbaum.
She attended Alton High School and went on to work for Shell Oil Company and Venture Department Store. She enjoyed reading about American pioneers, spending time outdoors, and living a simple life. Betty is survived by two children, Stephen Grove (Deb) and Carol Perla (Manuel) both of Florida, six grandchildren, and two brothers, Thomas Earl and Maurice Griesbaum both of Alton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Cecil, George, and Lester Griesbaum, and a sister, Velma Seago. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
