KANE-  Barbara Alice Lyles, 72, died at 7:02 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her residence.She was born in Jerseyville on Oct. 24, 1940, and was the daughter of the late William Jefferson & Pearl (Cope) Briggs.She graduated in 1958 from Jersey Community High School, and had worked as a clerk for Central Illinois Public Service (CIPS) and for over 25 years was a cook with Fran & Marilyn's Restaurant in Jerseyville.She married James Leo Lyles on Oct. 22, 1960 in Jerseyville, and together they have shared nearly 53 years together.Surviving are her husband, James Lyles of Kane; a daughter, Cheryl Wadlow of Kane; two sons & a daughter in law, James Patrick Lyles of Kane, and Kevin & Karla Lyles of St. Peters, Mo.; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and four sisters, Thelma Davis and Grace Kanallakan both of Jerseyville, Elsie Simpson of Winston-Salem, NC, and Marcella Lyles of Winder, Ga.; along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Roberts; and four brothers, Morris Briggs, Charles "Stormy" Briggs, Paul Briggs and William Briggs.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville, with Rev. Ted Engelsdorfer officiating.Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Blessing Hospice of Greene County or to the American Cancer Society
