Sharon Thompson

Sharon J. Thompson, 70, passed away unexpectedly at 4:55 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.   

 

She was born on August 4, 1943 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Roy W. and Nada (Lemmon) Downey. 

She married Myron Eugene “Gene” Thompson on November 27, 1967 in Godfrey, IL.  He survives.   

Sharon was a teacher for the Bethalto Community Daycare for nineteen years. She was a member of the Godfrey Church of Christ.  They enjoyed spending their winters in Texas.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Robyn and David Varady of Highland, Rhonda Wallace and Tim Vaughn of Bethalto and Debbie Thompson of Bethalto; a son Myron Lee and Betty Thompson of Bethalto; four grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and Ben Floyd, Brad and Kristina Thompson, Kyle Thompson and Holly Vaughn; three great grandchildren, Brody, Braden and Lucas; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Eva Downey of Alton; a brother-in-law, Bob Harris of Alton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Frank Wallace and a sister, Anne Mae Harris.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ with Minister James Lampley officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the CHADD – Children with Attention Deficit Disorder.
