Michael T. (Mitch) Mitchell, 74, passed away at 8:05 pm Tuesday October 2, 2013 at Robings Manor in Brighton.
He was born on August 12, 1939 in Alton the son of the late Stillman and Thelma (Cantrell) Mitchell.
He married Mary Greenwell and then Carol Sewell, and they both preceded him in death.
Mitch served his country in the US Navy.
He is survived by eight children and spouses Terri Kaye (Mike) Logsdon of Shipman, Susie Garrett of Cottage Hills, Steve (Sue) Mitchell of Bunker Hill, Tom (Dana) Mitchell of Brighton, DeeDee (Matt) Goforth of Brighton, Bo (Mike) Dunn of Alton, Mike Mitchell of Alton, Tracy (Matt) Andrus of Bethalto, one stepson Daniel Sewell of NC, twenty-six grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Gloria S. Mitchell, and one sister Darlene Collins.
Visitation will be from 1 pm to 3 pm, Sunday October 6, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be 1 pm Monday October 7, 2013 at Macon County Memorial Park in Decatur, IL.
