Gary Allen Peuterbaugh, 72, died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his home in Alton. Born July 10, 1941 in Mozier, IL, he was the son of Allen and Thelma (Clendenny) Peuterbaugh. He owned and operated Gary’s Barber Shop in Alton for 50 years. Gary was a past member of Alton Optimist Club. He enjoyed doing yard work and mowing on his John Deere. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. On December 22, 1962 he married Mary Ellen Malloy in Godfrey. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Peuterbaugh (Cherryl) of Brighton, and Mike Peuterbaugh (Laura Trigg) of Godfrey, one daughter, Cara Bernaix (Tim) of Alton, six grandchildren, Nicole Bernaix, Meghan Peuterbaugh, Michelle Bernaix, Clayton Peuterbaugh, Ben Bernaix, and Ella Peuterbaugh, and two brothers, Lonnie Peuterbaugh (Myra) of Batchtown, and Randy Peuterbaugh (Rhonda) of Alton. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
