Beverly Chambers

Beverly Chambers, 68, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 and went to be with her Heavenly Father with her family by her side. She fought a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and Lyme Disease (Neuro Borrelious).  She was born on August 3, 1945 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Cletus A. and Virginia D. Thomas Sheff Dooley.She married Carl L. Chambers on February 1, 1964 in East Alton, IL at the First General Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1995.Beverly was co-owner of Motorcycles Unlimited in Roxana, and clerk for various motorcycle events and AMA professional and semi pro races. She was past Vice President and Secretary of the Olin Westerner Club, a life time member of the Machinist Union Local 660, past member of the Bethalto KC Hall Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the East Alton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 794, the now defunct East Alton American Legion Golden Angles Drum and Bugle Corp and donated numerous hours helping the Cottage Hills VFW, although not a member.She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, camping, fishing, country music, singing karoke and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.  She always had a smile on her face and had undying energy.She is survived by her children, Steven (Tamara) Chambers of Cottage Hills, Tammy L. Chambers and her companion, Jim Perkins of Williamsburg, MO, a stepson, Carl W. Chambers of South Roxana,; her best friend, fiancé and companion, James Fillback of Moro; seven grandchildren, Joshua Chambers and Codie Chambers, Eric Chambers, Karley Mahanay, Kassidea Mahanay, Erin Mahanay, and Iain Lyle; a step-granddaughter, Lindsey Chambers; one great grandson, Matthew L. Chambers; five siblings and their spouses, Sharon (Bob) Burns of East Alton, Maurice “Butch” (Susan) Sheff of East Alton, George (Deb) Sheff of Holiday Shores and Cletus (Terri) Sheff of Plainview, IL; her faithful companions, both from a rescue, Toby and Lille, that were always by her side; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, a brother, Gary Sheff, stepfather, John L. Dooley, stepson, Douglas A. Chambers, in-laws, Dr. John W. and Mildred Chambers, maternal grandparents, Leslie and Georgia Thomas and paternal grandparents, Marshall and Katherine Sheff.   Visitation will be from 10 am until services at 1 pm on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Jack Spitzner officiating. There will be a gathering following the funeral ceremony at the East Alton American Legion.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in BethaltoMemorials may be made to the MD/ALS Division or 5 A’s Animal Shelter.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
