Barbara I. Embry, age 64, of Alton, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
She was born November 12, 1948, in Hood River, OR, the daughter of Roy and Beulah (Craig) Waggoner. She married James Embry on May 27, 1967 in Alton. Barbara retired from Olin Brass where she had worked for over 33 years. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was totally devoted to her family. Mrs. Embry will be remembered as always being a true lady; strong, thoughtful, selfless, and loving.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Sr.; two sons and their wives, James A. and Shelley Embry Jr., and Terry A. and Tammy Embry; a daughter and her husband, Alisa I. and Hal Stewart; five grandchildren and their spouses, AJ and Brittney Cadle, Dylan and Katelyn Embry, Delaney Embry, Natalie Embry, and Haleigh Embry; four brothers-in-law, Perky, David, Marion, and Pat; and three sisters-in-law, Lou, Norma and Kay; and many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kathy and Sue; two brothers, Roger and Rick; and her mother-in-law, Elma Voss.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf in Alton. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm with Pastor Brian Gruen officiating.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
