Ruth Colleen Sherer 90, formerly of Cottage Hills, IL passed away Saturday September 21 at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra, IL.
She was born July 28, 1923 to James Louy and Mary (Gholson) Essary in Saline County. She married Harold T. Sherer June 9, 1946 in Alton IL, he preceded her in death October 17, 1995.
She was a member of Whitelaw Avenue Baptist Church in Wood River and past member of the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills and the First Baptist Church of Bethalto. She was a former member of the Cottage Hills Elementary PTA and mother’s club. She enjoyed traveling and camping.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Brian and Charlotte Sherer of Roxana, IL; daughter and son in law, Constance and Robert Mull of Diamond, IL; five grandchildren, Jeff Mull, Chris (Mandie) Mull, Amanda Crump, Marissa Sherer and Samantha Sherer and seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Ronald Sherer and a great grandchild, Selena Mull.
Monday September 23, 2013, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Paynic Home for Funerals. Service is Tuesday September 24, 2013, 11 a.m at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association
