James “Jim” Bishop, 71, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on July 30, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Walter Edward and Helen (Demel) Bishop.
He married Karen McEwan Simburger on November 9, 2000 in Edwardsville. She survives.
Jim was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 600 and drove for Slay Transportation and several other trucking companies for over 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an excellent turkey shooter. He enjoyed barbequing and painting pictures.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children and their spouses, James M. Bishop of Festus, MO, Timothy and Rhonda Bishop of Hillsboro, MO, Kim and Dennis McKalip of Desoto, MO, Jeri and Ken Bird of Fort Worth, TX, Larry and Kim Simburger of Mitchell, IL and Michael and Shana Simburger of Moro; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Richardson of Cedar Hill, MO; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Juanita Bishop of Saint Louis, MO and Keith and Dianna Bishop of Wappapello, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home with Father Donald Gibbons officiating.
Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
