Virginia K. Anderson, 90, passed away at 1:56pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Willow Rose Rehab and Health Care in Jerseyville.
She was born Indianapolis, IN on April 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Zedekar) Wenzel.
She married Carl E. Anderson on October 11, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1978.
Virginia was a 1941 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School, and a Bookkeeper for Thrifty Drugs for over 16 years. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Gaither of Godfrey and Barbara Berghoff of Holiday Shores; seven grandchildren, David (Dee) Imming, Lori (Rob) Macias, Jeffrey (April) Imming, Paul (Mel) Berghoff, Kevin (Sara) Berghoff, Todd (Amy) Berghoff, and Amanda (Chris) Dussold; fifteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Clarence W. Wenzel of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Oliver L. Wenzel.
Private services were conducted at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Marquette Catholic High School.
