Mary Vinson

 Mary Marie Vinson, 90, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Willow Rose Rehab & Health Care Center in Jerseyville. Born March 14, 1923 in White Hall, IL, she was the daughter of Jasper and Margaret (Brown) Lockhart. She was part of what is called The Greatest Generation, which lived through and triumphed over The Great Depression and WWII. She retired from St. Louis City Hospital as a nurse. On September 1, 1956 she married Darrell Vinson. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1969.

Surviving is a daughter, Teresa Ann Bergesch (Sam) of Alton, two sons, Kenneth A. Lockhart (Jane) of Springfield, MO, and Joseph Brown (Elaine) of Honolulu, HA, four grandchildren, and one sister, Pearl Overby of White Hall. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Jackson, Ruby Kuhlman, and Rosie Seymour and two brothers, Sam and Bill Lockhart.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Alton Cemetery.
