Dannie Eifert

Dannie W. Eifert, 66, of Godfrey, formerly of Rushville and Beardstown, passed away at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Health Center in St. Louis.

He was born on August 26, 1947, in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of the late H. Nelson and Evelyn (Kiser) Eifert.  He first married Patsy Lael on May 6, 1967 at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.  He later married Rita Osborne Heineman on March 3, 1983 at the First United Methodist Church in Beardstown and she survives.

Also surviving are one son Todd William Eifert and wife Paula of Erath, Louisiana, five stepsons Randy Heineman and wife Patty of Medora, Danny Heineman and wife Lisa of Bethalto, Mike Heineman of Maricopa, Arizona, Jeff Heineman and wife Karen of Brighton, and Tim Heineman and wife Linda of Bethalto, three grandchildren Ashley Eifert, Paige Eifert and Todd William Eifert, Jr., 15 step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, two brothers Tom Eifert and wife Dianna of Rushville and Tim Eifert and wife Dana of Industry, two sisters Nancy Marrs and husband Wayne of Paris, Illinois, and Carol Huett and husband Steve of Rushville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

After graduating Rushville High School in 1965, Dannie worked on the family farm.  He was drafted into the US Army and later enlisted in October 1966.  He was stationed in Germany and at the age of 20 years, served 13 months in Vietnam earning the rank of E-6 Specialist.  After the service, he first worked as a driver for Bartlow Brothers in Rushville.  He then worked for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown.  He was a sales representative for Jim Ward Automotive in Rushville.  He later owned his own photography business Photography by Dannie Eifert in Carrollton.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Bethalto.  Dannie loved people, flower gardening and landscaping, and his dogs Willie and Lilie.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at the Cornerstone Church in Bethalto.  Additional visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. 

Service will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Mike Reuter officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by Schuyler American Legion Post #4. 

Memorials are suggested the River Bend Humane Society or the Schuyler County Humane Society.
