Harry Lee Rhoades, 78, died at 7:41 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1934 in Shipman, IL the son of the late John Wesley Rhoades and Edith (Eyer) Russell. He retired as a Supervisor from McDonnell Douglas Corp in Long Beach, CA. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, a member of the Alton Owl’s Club and Alton Eagles Foe No. 254. Harry was currently serving as a deacon at North Alton Southern Baptist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. On August 14, 1959 he married Rosalee Ann Vicari and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2003. He is survived by one daughter; Toni Maines of CA and three sons; Mike Laird (Penny) of San Diego, CA, Frank Rhoades (Donna) of Fayetteville, AR, and Chris Rhoades (Vicki) of CA, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Sonny Renken to officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to North Alton Southern Baptist Church in Alton.
