Norma Mae Wallendorff, 87, died at 5:35 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born June 16, 1926 in Pana, IL, she was the daughter of Fred and Eddith (Thompson) Berns. On May 11, 1946 in St. Charles, MO, she married Lymon Wallendorff. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1986. Surviving is a daughter, Susan Ahlemeyer (Dean) of Godfrey, two sons, Fred Wallendorff (Christy) of Wood River, and Joseph Wallendorff (Cathy) of Excello, MO, a daughter-in-law, Mary Wallendorff of Wood River, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a sister, Ruth Zucco of Alton. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Wallendorff, two brothers, Darrell and Lewis Berns, and four sisters, Lorreta Berns, Anna Barlow, Rosie Barringer, and Mary Hooper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Roy Rhodes will officiate. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Community Church.
