Morris Warren

Morris William Warren, 85, died peacefully at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in St. Louis, Mo., and Aug. 10, 1928, and was the son of the late Charles & Frances Luella (Herring) Warren. Morris was a U.S. Army World War II and Korean War veteran, and was employed  as an ironworker at Laclede Steel Company in Alton for 33 years before retiring in 1983. Above all else, Morris was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married the former Greta Custer on July 31, 1949 in Pickett, Arkansas and together they have been blessed with 64 years of a wonderful life.

Surviving are his wife, Greta Warren of Carrollton;  four children & their spouses, Rita Krone of Petersburg, Bill & Cathy Warren of White Hall, Ralph & Ginny Warren of Zion, and Shirley and Gene Treseler of Petersburg; 12 Grandchildren; 32 Great Grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a brother, Louis Warren of Shipman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Brooks; and two brothers, Floyd "Ozzie" Warren and Howard Warren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of funeral services at 12 noon at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, officiated by his son, Rev. Ralph Warren, and Rev. John Gibson.

Burial will be in the Borlin Cemetery in rural Carrollton, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Tri County  Honor Guard.

Memorials may be given to the Davita Dialysis in Jerseyville.
