Miles “Whitey” L. Wheeler, 68, passed away at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born in Fisk, MO on November 11, 1944, the son of the late Orval and  Pearl (Tyree) Wheeler.

Whitey married Regina Thomas on July 7, 1978 in Broseley, MO. She survives.

Whitey served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a welder at Combustion Engineering and Steel Fabrication for over 40 years. He was an avid reader, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter; Stacey Wheeler of St.Louis, MO, two sons; Michael and his spouse Sherry Wheeler of Osage Beach, MO and Jerry Wheeler of Bonne Terre, MO, eight grandchildren. Two sister’s; Wilma Haye of Bunker Hill and Goldie White of Woodbine, KS two brothers; Leroy Wheeler of Broseley, MO and David Wheeler of Edwardsville, IL and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Johnny Wheeler. 

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 11 am till time of service at 1 pm on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Rev Charles West officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL with Military Honors by the VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
