William Henry Ash, 68, passed away at 11:33pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1944, in Hutsonville, Illinois the son of the late William Franklin Ash and Marilda Francis (Johnson) Ash. Survivors include two daughters and one son: Eudora Adolph of Michigan; Kristina (and husband Jason) Hampton of St. Ann, Missouri; Tim (and wife Jaclyn) Ash of Troy, Illinois; as well as six grandchildren: Nicole, Alyssa, Payton, Lane, Matthew, Tayler; three sisters and one brother: Barbara Heleine of West York, Illinois, Linda Schoncheck (and husband Jerry) of Hutsonville, Illinois, and Martha Staley (and husband John) of Annapolis, Illinois, David Ash (and wife Diane) of West York, Illinois. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, three aunts (Eleanor Stephens of Robinson, IL; Alma Hughes, of Denver, Colorado; and Ann Duncan of Robinson, IL) and uncle, Emery Johnson, of Lawrenceville, IL, and several cousins.
He graduated from Hutsonville High School, Hutsonville, IL in 1962.He was ordained in 1966 in Hutsonville at the First Christian Church, and then went on to Saint Louis Christian College where he graduatedwith honors in 1970. Following his schooling he was pastor of TowerHill Christian Church in central Illinois, Cedar Lake Christian Church inIndiana, as well as churches in southern Illinois and eastern Missouri. Helater worked as a traveling salesman for various chemical companieswhile supporting his family.He was also employed as a security guard for Allied Barton for many years. He was an avid reader and very fond of the East Alton Library.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Wood River. Bob Tracey will officiate.
