Julia Greise—Bethalto

  Julia L. Greise, 98, loving aunt, passed away surrounded by her family at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

  Born Aug. 23, 1914 in Gillespie, she was a daughter of Andrew and Sadie (Emmons) Fravle.

  She worked as a secretary since the age of 18.  She was the church secretary for St. Christopher Catholic Church in St. Louis for 17 years until she retired from there in 1983.  She then was the medical records coordinator at VIP Manor for 17 years, retiring from there at the age of 83.

  Julia married Robert G. Greise May 10, 1941.  He passed away Jan. 27, 1965.

  She is survived by local nieces and nephews Linda Leritz (Jim) Begnel of Bethalto, Debbie Fravle (Jeff) Lister of Rosewood Heights, Patti Fravle (Tom) McRae of Bethalto and Robert Luken and Barbara Luken Hinson, both of Alton; other nieces and nephews, Kathy Fravle (Mike) Fuesting; Leonard A. (Diane) Leritz, Lyndel F. (Ed Stansell) Leritz, Lawrence R. Leritz, and Ralph (Jackie) Luken; great-nieces Sarah (Kyle) Jacoby, Heidi McGaughey, Gretchen (Lonnie) Hendricks, Becky (Mike) Slatin, Meagan McRae, Lindsey Lister, Melissa Fuesting, and Sister Mary Benedetta; great-nephews, Patrick McRae, Ryan (Sara) Lister, Carl McGaughey III, Scott (Shelly) Leritz, Andrew (Dawn) Leritz, Nick (Risa) Leritz, Aaron (Stephanie) Leritz, Jay (Elissa) Leritz, Andrew (Becky) Schubert, Robert (Val) Schubert, Robert (Megan) Hernandez, and Richard (Amy) Hernandez; 6 great-great nieces; 6 great-great nephews;  and a sister-in-law, Winifred Fravle of Rosewood Heights.

  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Luken and Marcella Leritz; and two brothers, Gerald Fravle and Francis “Franny” Fravle.

  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  Father James Flach will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.

  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie.

  Memorials may be given to Holy Angels Catholic Church of Wood River, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Bethalto, or the Queen of Peace Healthcare Center, 845 Danforth St., Alton.
