James G. Martin III, 60, passed away unexpectedly at 10:45 pm on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his farm in Shipman.
He was born on June 15, 1951 in St. Louis, MO, the son of James G. and Avis (Bishop) Martin Jr.
He married Jackie Spencer on May 20, 1995 in St. Charles, MO. She survives.
James was a material tester for the Missouri Petroleum Teamster 682 for 20 years. He was also a Merchant Marine and worked on barges. A member of the NRA, enjoyed woodworking, a gun enthusiast, fishing, loved his dogs, Sophie, Brandie and Bella and never forgot their golden retriever “Sadie”.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Avis Martin of Alhambra; his mother-in-law, Clara Spencer of Foristell, MO; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Joan Martin of Bethalto; his sister-in-law and spouse, Debbie and Ron Kloeppel of Foristell, MO and a brother-in-law and spouse, Ron and Lynn Spencer of Warrenton, MO several nieces and nephews, Ben and Joann Martin of Chesterfield, MO, Whitney and Clay Cummins of Bethalto, Bri Martin of St. Louis, MO, Michele Spencer of Hollywood, CA, Lise’ Kloeppel of Ashville, NC, Joseph Kloeppel of Wentzville, MO, Scott Kloeppel of O’Fallon, MO, Jamie Spencer and Jason Spencer both of Warrenton, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father, James and father-in-law, Emer Spencer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
