Earl Stauder

Earl L. Stauder, 85, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.  Born November 17, 1925 in Witt, IL, he was the son of Lawrence and Marie Stauder.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton as well as the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Alton.  He was a barber in downtown Alton for 30 years and had also worked for the Alton Mental Health Center as a barber for 11 years.  On November 22, 1944, he married the former Heidi Augue.  She survives.  Also surviving are two sons, David Stauder and his wife Judith of Malvern, Ohio and Michael Stauder of Godfrey, four grandchildren, Debbie Rauvala, Jonathan Stauder, Jennifer Lando and her husband Dave, and Rebecca Holderman and her husband Andy, seven great grandchildren, Christian and Gracie Stauder, Anthony and Alexander Rauvala, and Lauren, A.J. and Alyssa Holderman.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.  Reverend Kenneth Tegtmeier will officiate.  Memorials may be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Godfrey.
