Anna Shaw

Bethalto |

Anna B. Shaw, 71, passed away of a short illness at 10:30 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on September 16, 1939 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Joseph D. and Helen R. (Craig) Kessler.

Anna graduated from Civic Memorial High School in 1957 and was a homemaker most of her life. She was an outgoing, fun-loving sort of person.  She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She was also a very loving and caring friend, always willing to help in any way she could. She was known to take people in need into her home to minister God’s word and show forth His loving kindness. She went through rough times, as we all do but she always said that God was faithful and trusted in Him even with her last breath.  She was an extraordinary follower of Christ and devoted much of her life to the plans and purposes of His will.  We will mourn the separation at this time that has been laid upon us but we will rejoice in knowing that we will see her yet again!  She was a beautiful flower in God’s garden and He has now called her home.  We smile with her as He says “Welcome home my beautiful child.”

She is survived by a daughter, Shari A. Yates of Bethalto; former husband, Jerry D. Dales, father of Shari; two granddaughters and their spouses, Sarah B.and Bill Chalberg of Downers Grove and Amber N. and Sean Higgins of Bunker Hill; one grandson, Andrew J. Brooks of Alton; two great granddaughters, Grace Chalberg and Cheyann Higgins; two brothers and sisters-in-law,  Gary D. and Janice Kessler of Bethalto and Phillip E. and Deborah Kessler of Fort Collins, CO; one sister, Beverly Jo Miller of Bethalto and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Joseph Craig Kessler, John D. Kessler and James Richard Kessler

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10:00 am to service time at 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Daryl Dolbe officiating.

Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
