Odella J. Cato, 89, went to be with the Lord at 6:40 pm Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto.
She was born on May 29, 1921, in Zalma, MO, the daughter of Luther and Amanda (Eaker) Kinnison.
She married Verdell Cato on June 19, 1947 in Highland, NJ. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1987.
Odella was a waitress/hostess at Venture Restaurant for over 10 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church. She loved sitting outside in the sun, music and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janie & Ed Eich of Edwardsville; six grandchildren, Jeff Cato, Amanda Christy, Kimberly Eich Spies, Lisa Eich Painter, Elizabeth Cato and Kelly Cato; loving great grandchildren; a sister, Lovevota Bess of Advance, MO and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Cato and Avon Cato and several brothers and sisters.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10 until service time at 11 am on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Craig Wurst officiating.
Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
