Cecil H. Adams, age 88, passed away at 6 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
He was born on May 7, 1922 in Goreville, Illinois to William and Etta (Thornton) Adams.
He married Velma Adams on June 28, 1957 in Hernando, Mississippi. She survives.
Cecil was employed at National Maritime Union where he worked as a deck hand and mate. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Alton and a 4th degree Knight.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter and her spouse; Robin and Jim Telle of Glendale, AZ two sons and their spouses; Greg and Georgia Adams of Godfrey, IL. and Dr. Michael and Barb Adams of St. Louis, MO, five grandchildren; Karra, Nyssa, Kynlee Adams, Ava and Sean Adams, and Elizabeth Telle, and one brother Everett and his spouse Irene Adams of Tamaroa, Il.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Ray Adams and Charlie Adams, and two sisters; Flossie Russell, and Mae Adams.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of mass at 11 am on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, with Fr. Shawn Monahan O.M.V. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery, in Alton, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Marquette Catholic Capital Campaign Fund.
