Vivian Azari

Vivian L. Azari, 92, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.

Born July 31, 1918 in Edwardsville, she was a daughter of Walter and Louise (Schwing) Norder.

A 1936 graduate of Edwardsville High School, she was a retired purchasing agent for the U.S. government in St. Louis.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club.

She married Nick Azari in Bethalto in 1957. He preceded her in death.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Diana Warnhoff; her sister, Cleo Shellabarger; and her nephew, Alan Steehlinger.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mickie and Jack Cook; her granddaughter, Rebecca Warnhoff; three nieces, Lisa (Mel) Doubet, Glenda Sandbach, and Janice Bornes; her brother-in-law, Carlton Shellabarger; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 28 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Daryl Fansler will officiate.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church.
