Gaetano H. Paneschi, 88, went to be with the Lord at 5:15 am on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 1, 1921 in Saint Louis, MO, the son of Joseph & Minnie (Goetz) Paneschi.
He married Louise A. Lafikes on June 16, 1945 at Main Street Methodist Church in Alton. They just celebrated 65 years of marriage. She survives.
Gaetano served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was owner/operator of Suburban Sheet Metal for over 20 years. A family owned heating and cooling company located on 9th Street in Rosewood Heights. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Michele & Gary Heflin of Edwardsville; four grandchildren, Matthew & his spouse Christine Crause of Glen Carbon, Elizabeth Denis and Michele Foster both of Moro and Kilee Crause of Glen Carbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anna Kramer and a brother, Carl Paneschi.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at 11 am on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military honors given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be given to Collinsville Rehab & Healthcare Activity Department.
