Edna Christine Murray, 88, died at 1:23 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 at her home in Godfrey.
Born May 26, 1922 in Lyon County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William T. and Nannie Bell (Prescott) Bloodworth. She retired from the Alton School District as a cafeteria manager and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. On October 28, 1938 in Dover, TN, she married Garland Murray. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Murray of Godfrey and Dr. Gary (Virginia) Murray of Owego, New York, three grandchildren, Jennifer Murray- Stroud of Godfrey, Kristen (John) Sage of Rochester, New York and Alan (Angela) Murray of Dalian, China and three great grandchildren, Kira, Kasey and Kathrene Sage. She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Murray, a sister, Shirley Britt and two brothers, Charles and Bill Bloodworth.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the Homebound Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church.
