Celesta Mae Jun, 100, passed away on June 10, 2010 in her sleep at home with family members nearby.



She was born July 7, 1910 in DuQuion, IL to Eb and Laura (Rhine) Karns. She graduated from Alton High School in 1928 and from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1931. She worked at area hospitals and in private duty.



She married Thomas Charles Jun in September 4, 1934 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. They founded the Thomas C. Jun Construction Company in 1946, now Jun Construction Company.



She was the bookkeeper for the company for more than 30 years. They developed subdivisions, built homes, churches and many local businesses.  Her family honored her by naming two streets in Godfrey after her: Celesta Drive and Mae Drive.



She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Jun and her son, Thomas C. Jun, Jr., five sisters, three brothers, two sons-in-law, Preston Zerwas and J. Lawrence Keshner and one laughter in law, Valerie Jun.



She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She was a member of the Madison County Home Builders Association Auxillary, the Altar Society at St. Mary's Church and the St. Joseph's School of Nursing Alumni Association.  She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.



She is survived by four children. Mary and Edward Seibert of Godfrey, Minerva Zerwas Stalker of Godfrey, J. Raymond Jun of Alton, PJ and Jayne Jun of Godfrey., 17 grandchildren, Denise Jun, Bradley and Kerry Jun, Karen and Don Lindsay, Joseph and Tracy Keshner, Maria Summerof, Charles and Nicole Keshner, Michael and Stacy Keshner, Anne and Geoff Thorsen, Margaret and Steve Harp, Phillip Zerwas, Gregory and Liz Zerwas, Scott Zerwas, Nathan McConnell, Sarah and Ryan Gentelin, Nicholas Stalker, Brian Jun and David and Elizabeth Jun and 20 great grandchildren.



In celebration of her life there will be a funeral Mass at 11:30 am, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Pohlman as celebrant.



Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.



In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Beverly Farm Foundation or to St. Mary's Church in her name.
