Clifford F. "Mac" McDaniel, Sr

Clifford F. "Mac" McDaniel, Sr., 71, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

Born Aug. 6, 1938 in Decatur, Ill., he was a son of Raymond and Martha (Hill) McDaniel.

He married Judith A. Oetken Jan. 12, 1961, and they were looking forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage. She survives.

The U.S. Army veteran worked as a machinist for many years, for Braun Automotive and then General Auto Electric.

He was a member of the Local Machinists Union #313, the Alton Eagles, HOG (Harley Owners Group), the former Bluff City Motorcycle Club, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Julie and her husband Donald Carson of Austin, Tex. and Sherrey (Fillback) Dabbs and her husband Bob of Grafton; a sister, Maryln Monroe of Romeoville, Ill.; a brother, Raymond McDaniel of Mobile, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Sue Quinn and her husband William of Gillette, Wyo., nieces, Sherry and Brenda Monroe, Pamela Spain and Kelly Quinn; a nephew, Darrell McDaniel; and two special cousins, Tracy Autry and Tammy Sparrowks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Clifford F. McDaniel, Jr.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 14 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the DaVita Dialysis Center in Alton or Bethel Pentecostal Church in Rosewood Heights.

The family would also like to thank Tracy and Tammy for all their help with "Uncle Cliff".
